The U2F standard was developed by Google and Yubico and is championed today by the FIDO Alliance, an open industry association focused on reducing the world’s excess dependence on passwords. U2F, while still considered a multi-factor authentication method, is much stronger than traditional MFA methods such as security questions or one-time passwords, which can be stolen or intercepted. It’s the addition of something a user has (physical security key) with something the user knows (password). You also have the option to edit each security key’s name or to delete it.U2F (Universal 2nd Factor) is a universal authentication standard that provides an additional layer of security for online accounts. The key’s name defaults to “Security Key” unless you choose a custom name. You’ll also find more info such as the key's name, the date it was added, and the date it was last used. There, you’ll find a list of the keys you’ve added, from the most recent to the oldest. You can manage your security keys under your 2-Step Verification settings. This type of key turns off after each use. If your key has none of these features, you may need to remove and reinsert it.If your key has a gold tip, tap and then press it.If you see a message from "Google Play services," tap OK. ![]() Connect your key to the USB port in your device. You may need a USB adapter.Sign in to your Google Account. Your device will detect that your account has a security key.
